Oakley SI Pilot Gloves
If you have seen pictures of US Special Forces on the many Airsoft Forums, or the Military Picture website, you may of been members wearing these gloves. For a while, these gloves were very hard to come by, and if you were lucky enough to score a pair via eBay, you were going to pay through the nose for them.
I was lucky enough to get a pair through a friend and have used them for the last year and a half. And recently, I was at an Oakley outlet store, the Vault and found a pair for 30.00! So, if you are looking for a pair, check out the outlets as well. You never know what you can find there.
Now, onto the gloves themselves -
When you look at the gloves, you will see that the knuckle area has a carbon fiber “cover”. This has come in very handy when playing CQB or training in a MOUT site. The four fingers (excluding the thumb) have vents and the top of the glove is a stretchy material with a leather section that covers the middle of the glove.
When you flip the gloves over, you will see that the index and middle fingers have 13 small rubber grips on each finger. This is to help when gripping magazines, triggers, or pistol grips. These hold up pretty well, but I have seen these “nubs” wear down or fall off on some gloves over time.
Overall, these are excellent gloves for hand protection. I have worn them during all 4 seasons, and even in the winter, have not had cold hands.
Durability – My original pair are holding up pretty well. You can see wear on the edges, and the fingers, and I have a small tear in an index finger and at the base. But, I have seen some pairs that look like they were shredded. It is going to come down to the user’s care and maintenance of the glove I think.
If you are looking for a pair of gloves with a hard knuckle and like to have a high tacticool factor, check these out. And, now that you can find them at the Oakley Outlet Stores, you can two pairs for the price of one.
