During this year’s SHOT show, we were introduced to Blue Force Gear’s Helium Whisper Attachment System. TGL was very excited to finally get their M4 pouch in our hands for a review.  If you are familiar with BFG’s Ten-Speed pouches, you will like the addition of the Helium Whisper Attachment system.

The pouch holds a single M4 magazine and is made of a stretchy material that keeps the pouch flat when not is use, but holds the M4 magazine very securely.  This pouch has excellent retention of the magazine. There is no wobble or wiggle.  When you remove the magazine, the pouch will sit flat against the MOLLE surface it is attached to.  I will say that if you practice tactical reloads and replace the spent magazine in the pouch of the new magazine, this type of pouch is not for you due to the stretchy nature of it.

Now that you know about the front of the pouch, let’s check out how that pouch is secured to your MOLLE platform.  Blue Force Gear introduced their Helium Whisper Attachment System as a way to reduce weight that the modern war fighter has to carry on them outside the wire.

According to the Blue Force Gear website, the standard MOLLE attachment system is made up of 27 separate parts. The Helium Whisper System is made up of only 6 parts and is half the weight of the traditional system (84 ounces verses 44 ounces).

The backing is a stretchy, plastic material that makes threading the pouch into the MOLLE webbing easier because the back straps are pliable and you could bend them to get them into the rows if stitching is off by a bit.  At the end of the straps, there are two tabs of Velcro.  And, they are tucked up and into the last row of the back strap.  If for some reason, the Velcro were to disengage from the backing, the tabs are designed to snag the MOLLE to keep the pouch on the MOLLE Vest, Plate Carrier, Chest Rig, or Battle Belt.

If you are looking for a low profile magazine pouch for your rig. I would highly suggest you check this pouch out. And, if you like Blue Force Gear, keep checking our site for reviews on Blue Force Gear’s VCAS Sling and Chest Rig!
